Come to the 3rd floor of the Library where the testing coordinators will help you with the procedures for testing with us. We recommend that you review the Student Testing Protocols before you arrive to familiarize yourself with the Testing Center’s hours and procedures for sign-in and storing your belongings, and what you need to bring with you.

Student Testing Protocols


Will I be able to keep my belongings with me?

 Only materials specified by your instructor in writing are permitted in the testing room. You will place all personal belongings in a locker located outside the testing room.

Do I need a picture ID?

Valid identification is required. UAMS Students/Staff must provide a current UAMS student ID badge. All students will sign in for test by scanning their UAMS student ID badge at the sign in desk outside the testing room.

What information do I need in order to take my test?

 When you come in for a test, please know the class you are in, the instructor and test name.

My test is timed. Will you alert me when my time is running short?

 No. students are responsible for tracking their own time while testing.

Can I keep my scratch paper after my test?

No. students are required to sign scratch paper and bring scratch paper and handouts back to the testing coordinators at the end of the test.

What time do I need to arrive before the Testing Center closes in order to start a test?

 The Testing Center strictly adheres to closing time. Students will be turned away if their allotted test time exceeds normal operating hours (i.e. a student arriving for a 60 minute exam at 7:30pm when we close at 8:00pm).

The Testing Center is about to close and I am still testing. What do I do?

 The testing coordinators expect all students to submit their test at the scheduled closing time. No exceptions will be made.


Window-of-Opportunity Tests

Window-of-opportunity tests are open for a period of time set by your instructor. During that time, you may take your test during the hours the Testing Center is open. You do not need to make an appointment to take a window-of-opportunity test. If you miss your test, you should contact your instructor.

My Instructor has opened my test for four days. Do I need an appointment?

 No. Students taking a window-of-opportunity test should come in during our working hours. Monday-Thursday 7:30am to 8pm and on Friday 7:30am to 6pm.

What if I miss my test?

 Students should contact their instructor.

Scheduled Tests

Scheduled tests are are only open for a very specific period of time, like special accommodation tests, scheduled make-up tests, and group tests. Your instructor will notify you if your test is a scheduled test. Most students who test in the Testing Center take window-of-opportunity tests. If you have any questions about your test contact your instructor.

Can I take my test whenever I am ready?

No. Students with a scheduled test time must arrive on time.

What if I need to change my scheduled test time/date?

 Students should contact their instructor. Testing coordinators will work with instructors to reschedule tests.

Can I arrive at my scheduled time but study a few minutes before starting my test?

No. Due to limited space, students must start their test at the scheduled time.

What if I am running late?

Students with a scheduled testing time (i.e. special testing or scheduled make-up tests) must arrive on time. Students who arrive more than 15 minutes late will forfeit their reserved test time. A testing coordinator will notify the instructor so that the test can be rescheduled.
