  1. Timing: How long can you wait for a laptop? Do you need it immediately or can you wait for it? Best Buy may be just down the street, but www.newegg.com has much better deals. Remember, you’re going to have this laptop for years, what’s a few more days going to hurt?
  2. Function: Be honest about what you’ll use your laptop for, if it’s just for school there are several laptops that’ll function perfectly in the $400-$600 range. If it’s for gaming, video editing, data processing, or 3D-Rendering, you’re going to need a bigger box. Remember the heaviest process will be the one for which you want to buy the laptop always be prepared).
  3. Budget: Once you’ve decided on your laptop’s purpose, pick a budget. Budgeting helps you narrow down choices, and get the best bang for your buck. Remember, once the budget is decided, stick to it.

We’ve sorted out the technical terms and put all the information you’ll need in our Laptop Buying Guide to help you get ready for the new semester.
