Testing Center FAQs

Will I be able to keep my belongings with me?

Only materials specified by your instructor in the submitted testing request are permitted in the testing room. You will place all personal belongings in a locker located outside the testing room including books, notebooks, backpacks, smartphones, smart watches, etc.

Do I need a picture ID?

Valid identification is required. UAMS Students/Staff must provide a current UAMS student ID badge. You will sign in for a test by scanning your UAMS student ID badge at the sign in desk outside the testing room.

What information do I need in order to take my test?

When you come in for a test, please know the class you are in, your instructor and test name.

My test is timed. Will you alert me when my time is running short?

No, you are responsible for tracking your own time while testing. Most tests are timed and the timer is displayed within the testing window.

Can I keep my scratch paper after my test?

No, you are required to sign scratch paper and bring your scratch paper and handouts back to the testing coordinators at the end of the test. Please do not throw any scratch paper away.

What time do I need to arrive to take my test?

The Testing Center strictly adheres to closing time. You will be turned away if your allotted test time exceeds normal operating hours (i.e. a student arriving for a 60 minute exam at 7:30 PM when we close at 8:00 PM). You must have submitted your exam, turned in any scratch paper or handouts, and have retrieved your belongings before we close.

Testing is available Monday thru Thursday from 7:30 AM to 8:00 PM and on Friday from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM.

The Testing Center is about to close and I am still testing. What do I do?

The testing coordinators expect all students to submit their test at the scheduled closing time. No exceptions will be made.

What is a Window-of-Opportunity test?

Window-of-opportunity tests are open for a period of time set by your instructor. During that time, you may take your test during the hours the Testing Center is open. You do not need to make an appointment to take a window-of-opportunity test. If you miss your test, you should contact your instructor.

My instructor has opened my test for four days. Do I need an appointment?

No, if you are taking a window-of-opportunity test you should come in during the hours the Student Success Center is open – Monday-Thursday 7:30 AM to 8:00 PM and on Friday 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM.

What if I missed my Window-of-Opportunity test?

You should contact your instructor to make arrangements to test at another time.

What is a scheduled test?

Scheduled tests are only open for a very specific period of time and include special accommodation tests, scheduled make-up tests, and group tests. Your instructor will notify you if your test is a scheduled test. Most students who test in the Testing Center take window-of-opportunity tests. If you have any questions about your test and when you need to come to the Testing Center, contact your instructor.

Can I take my scheduled test whenever I am ready?

No. Due to space constraints, if you have a scheduled test time you must arrive on time and start your test at the exact scheduled time.

What if I need to change my scheduled test time/date?

You will need to contact your instructor to make any changes to a scheduled test. Testing coordinators will work your instructors to reschedule tests.

Can I arrive at my scheduled time but study a few minutes before starting my test?

No. Due to limited space, you must start your test at the scheduled time.

What if I am running late?

If you are due to test at scheduled testing time (i.e. special testing or scheduled make-up tests) you must arrive and start on time. Students who arrive more than 15 minutes late will forfeit their reserved test time and will not be able to test. A testing coordinator will notify your instructor so that the test can be rescheduled.
